WHAT IS COPYRIGHT?

Copyright protects copyrighted works and is defined as the author’s own intellectual creation in the field of literature, science and all forms of art, and comprises, among others, the following:

  • written works, e.g. literary works, articles, manuals, studies and computer programs,
  • musical works with or without text,
  • theatrical, theatrical-musical and puppet works,
  • choreographic and pantomime works,
  • photographic works and works following the procedure similar to photography,
  • audio-visual works,
  • artworks such as paintings, graphics and sculptures,
  • architectural works, such as sketches, plans and completed structures in the field of architecture, urbanism and landscape architecture,
  • works of applied arts and industrial design,
  • cartographic materials,
  • presentations of scientific, educational or technical nature (technical drawings, plans, sketches, tables, expert opinions, three-dimensional representations, and other works of similar nature).

Ideas, principles, discoveries, official texts in the field of legislation, administration and judiciary as well as folk, literary and artistic creations are not protected by copyright.
